Prof. Dr. Johanna Löchner is Professor of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg (since December 2024). Her research focuses on the prevention and early intervention of mental health disorders in youth, with a particular emphasis on digital approaches and emotion regulation. From 2022 to 2024, she served as Assistant Professor for Mobile Assessment and Telepsychotherapy at the University Hospital Tübingen, and from 2020 to 2022, she led the National Center for Early Prevention at the German Youth Institute.She earned her doctorate in 2018 with a dissertation on the transmission and prevention of depression in children of parents with depression and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at LMU Munich. Dr. Löchner is a licensed psychotherapist (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and clinical psychologist with longstanding clinical experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings for children, adolescents and adults.
Prof. Löchner is actively involved in numerous national and international scientific societies and advisory boards. She serves as spokeswoman for the E-Mental Health Special Interest Group of the German Psychological Society (DGPs), is a member of the Global Consortium for the Prevention of Depression (GCPD) and advisor of the German Psychotherapy Chamber (Bundespsychotherapeutenkammer, BPtK). She is also an advisory expert for youth mental health in UNICEF's "Kinderrechteschulen" programme. Additionally, she collaborates with health and digital mental health organizations including Mental Health Crowd, Nilo Health, and Praevenio.
